aesthetically speaking: industrial style

for today’s “get the look” feature, we look at spaces which have have embraced industrial style and how you can add a bit of this decor in your home. while industrial style began as a trend a while back, it has stood the test of time and now continues to still be used when mixed with other styles to give a space a more relaxed feel. it is not just a flash in the pan trend, but one that continues to leave us inspired in how it has been adapted with the times!

one of the main things we love about industrial style is how you can find one-of-a-kind pieces that you can personalize in a different way than what it may have been originally used or intended. sometimes, the reasoning is very intentional because you want to add a vintage or aged feel to a space to give it more character. whatever your choice is, it appears industrial decor is here to stay and we love design that has longevity!

if you’re looking to bring an industrial feel to your interiors, take a cue from these wonderful spaces that embrace this style, using industrial pieces that mix with more modern and contemporary details. we’ve sprinkled in items from rummage to highlight how you can can bring an industrial feel to your interiors in smaller ways, from furniture, accessories or lighting, before committing to the look for a whole remodel. do you have a favorite space below? let us know in the comments!

project diaries: get the look of a bohemian home office

for today’s “get the look” feature, we revisit a home office in the hollywod hills from one of our long time clients for whom we’ve completed many projects for in the past.

here we combined bohemian and feminine accents that gave this space a lot of character. our kpi team used eclectic pieces and layered in different patterns, from the wallpaper to the pillows, accessories and artwork, to create a remix of unique custom elements and flea market treasures that gave our client a charming workspace from which to grow her home business.

below we’ve shared exact product or suggestions from the rummage shop to help you recreate some of the vibe of this home office! to find out more about this room, see kishani‘s book vintage remix, which gives you more insight not only into this room, but other spaces that she designed in this gorgeous home.

molly and kishani have worked together on several homes, but this one was particularly special because it is the home that molly is raising her family.

blue and green drip glaze lamp via kishani perera inc.

saturated colors from the accessories, lighting and wall art make the living room really pop against the neutrals! this mid-century blue and green drip glaze lamp is very similar in shape to the one in the living room. if you love the style, you have to view our wonderful inventory of additional drip glaze items here!

bristol side table via kishani perera inc.

isn’t this a beauty? we love the bristol side table designed by kishani for molly’s living room! it is made of wood with an antiqued mirror top. the great thing about this piece is that we can make it custom in size and with different finishes if you have a specific design need!

mud-cloth textiles via kishani perera inc.

tie dyed textiles are so popular right now! we love the options kishani used throughout molly’s home, but these mud-cloth textiles in yellow, orange, green and purple are equally perfect for injecting your home with color this spring! if these textiles speak to your design sensibilities, we can create custom pillows using one or more of these options!

if you did a double take when you saw the cadogan coffee table in molly’s living room, we don’t blame you! another of our favorite pieces designed by kishani herself! we particularly love the bulb turned legs! such a handsome piece for any home!

aesthetically speaking: african bogolan mud cloth

we love seeing how people incorporate traditional cultural items into contemporary settings! for some, it’s a way of honoring their heritage and for others it’s simply a way of adding character and style to their personal space. one of those items in particular is the african bogolan mud cloth. we love its simplicity and the hand painted geometric lines which give it a graphic, modern feel while still maintaining its rustic nature. lately, we’ve been seeing this motif in both design and fashion, so we wanted to share some of our favorites!
